Featuring a faculty of performers drawn from the ranks of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), along with an extraordinary group of composers, improvisers, and scholars, Ensemble Evolution explores a full range of ensemble playing. 

Participants will perform established repertoire—featured in 2018 will be Olivier Messiaen’s Des Canyons aux Étoiles and Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s In the Light of Air—along with world premieres by composers George Lewis, Vivian Fung, Sabrina Schroeder, and Peter Evans.  

Over the course of the residency, participants will take over the responsibility for programming, rehearsing, and producing the concerts, resulting in a completely participant-driven day long festival at the culmination of the program.
